Reminders from the Guidance Department:

 

  • The College and Career Fair is Tuesday, October 24th from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on the Rebel Boardwalk. 

 

  • The door decorating contest is Oct 31. 

 

  • The FAFSA Application is being updated, therefore; it will be made available in DECEMBER 2023, instead of the usual October release date. 

 

  • Be sure to check out the scholarship tab on the Guidance Department’s page on gorebs.org. It’s full of information and updated regularly.

 

  • Louisiana Delta Community College’s Fall 2024 Application is now available. LDCC is an “open admissions” college, which means there is no minimum ACT or GPA requirement for students to apply. Also, applying is FREE! You can stop by Guidance if you’d like more information on applying to LDCC.

Sports News: 


 

  • The Volleyball team travels this weekend to play in the Natchitoches Central tournament. 

 

  • The Varsity football team travels to Ouachita tomorrow to take on the Lions. 

 

  • This week’s spirit theme is Pink Out in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. Let’s all wear Pink!

Club and Organization News:

 

  • Junior Civitans, your t-shirts are in! Come by Mrs. Beach’s room (6206) to pick up your shirt. Also, be sure you are checking Google Classroom for updates about events, etc. See Mrs. Beach if you have questions.

 

  • It is time to start signing up for the next drivers ed class with Coach Osborne. Classes will start after school on Monday October 30th.  For more information stop by and see Coach Osborne in the PE gym.

 

  • West Monroe High School will be performing Disney's The Little Mermaid in April of 2024. Audition packets are available outside the choir room now. Auditions will be Monday Oct. 30th at 4 pm in the choir room. Follow the instructions given in the packet and we will see you on the 30th. Direct any questions to Mrs. Freeman. 

 

  • Attention Key Club, please check Google Classroom to sign up to attend our annual Kiwanis club Trick or Treat for UNICEF on Thursday, October 26th. All funds raised  will contribute to building community centers in the southern African nation called Insakas, with spaces for children to learn and play, a community kitchen, playground, water, sanitation facilities, a vegetable garden, and providing age-appropriate toys such as blocks, stringing beads and books to encourage development. If you spot our club in your community, please consider donating any spare change to this great cause.

  • The WMHS STUDENT LIFE committee is hosting a Christmas Dance, Friday, December 15th,  from 7-10 pm in the Edgewood Building. This dance is not a formal dance.  We are reserving that designation for Homecoming and Prom. Tickets are $20 per person, and the ticket price includes the dance t-shirt! Attire for this event is the dance t-shirt and school-appropriate jeans.  No shorts or hoodies will be allowed. Concessions will be sold at the dance.Tickets will go on sale Nov. 13- 17 (the week before the Thanksgiving holidays).  Only seniors and juniors can buy tickets Monday & Tuesday (11/13-14) online. Beginning Wednesday, 11/15, ticket purchases will be open to all students online.
